Dinoland!

We wanted a quick weekend getaway with just the kids, so we headed to Vernal, Utah. I know what you're thinking, "Vernal? How lame." It ended up being a wonderful weekend and we had a blast. We camped in the  KOA which worked out nice. There were toilets, showers, running water, and still were able to sleep in a tent and have a campfire.
The first night we were there we went on a short hike and saw Petroglyphs and Pictographs dated from 1-1300 AD.

 Lainey spotted a Lizard.

The next day we went to the fish hatchery, where they raise different types of trout to be released all over America. There were tons of rectangular pools filled with fish. They gave us a huge bucket of fish food and let us feed the fish. The fish would go crazy, splashing and jumping right out of the water.

We went on a hike called Jone's Hole. Its four miles up and four back. We made it 1 mile. But we had fun!

Then we headed to the museum in town. We would have gone to the Dinosaur Land Monument but it was under construction. This worked out just as well. Until Lainey fell into the coy pond outside and got all wet and scratched up.

She found an inch worm (look closely on the right edge of the paper) and watched it inch along the paper. She named it boots. We made him a little house and the next morning he was gone and ear wigs were there. Metamorphosis or the Circle of Life??? We chose the "He left to find a new home" route.

Thank you Vernal!
